Frequently Asked

Answers for curious families.

Everything you might wonder about our daily schedule, dress code, tardiness policy, and more.

Program & Schedule

The first hour of the day is spent testing new content and most recent work. Students then have a break and snack time, followed by a tajwīd/makhārij class and review of older memorization.

Students also spend dedicated time each day learning new Arabic vocabulary that helps them memorize and understand the Qur'an.

Ayat Academy runs year-round to help students complete their hifdh journey sooner. We recommend families limit long vacations as much as possible to help students succeed. See our calendar.

Timing varies for each student based on ability, consistency, and the support and commitment of the family.

Our program is designed for steady progress without burnout. The target is approximately one page per day, with strong murājaʿah of previously memorized portions. Some students move faster, others take more time — our focus is always accuracy, strong tajwīd, and lasting retention.

Ayat Academy uses a points system that encourages strong memorization habits in a fun environment. Students earn points for effort and behavior and are rewarded with monthly fun activities.

Parents & Students

Our program is designed to help students take greater responsibility for their own hifdh journey. All memorization testing and review assessments are conducted by teachers — parents are not required to complete revision testing at home.

That said, parent support remains very important. Parents are expected to check their child's hifdh progress sheets regularly to stay informed. Depending on the student's needs, additional encouragement at home may also be beneficial.

All of our teachers hold ijāza in the Qur'an, with a combined 50+ years of teaching experience.

Daily Life

Their Qur'an, a lunch or snack, a water bottle, and a positive attitude.

Girls wear a black abaya with a white, black, or blue hijab. Boys wear a blue, black, or white thobe and may wear a kuffi of the same colors. Both must wear clothing below the knees under thobes and abayas during break.

All members of the program are expected to follow basic hygiene: deodorant, clean clothes, trimmed nails. Cleanliness is half the faith.

Policies

We maintain a strict tardiness policy to ensure student success. Students should be in class at 8:00 AM sharp — please drop off by 7:55 AM. Students must be picked up no later than 5 minutes after dismissal. Students lose points for tardiness.
